Simple to Host: What On-Site Anaesthesia Looks Like for Your Practice
Bringing anaesthesia services into your clinic is designed to be low-disruption. Sleep Anaesthesia works around your existing floor plan and appointment schedule, rather than asking your practice to restructure around us.

Site Requirements Checklist
Room requirements
- Standard dental surgery room with clear access to both sides of the dental chair
- Minimum clearance around the chair for the anaesthesia trolley and monitoring equipment
- At least one dedicated power point for monitoring equipment & ventilator machines
- Adequate lighting for airway management (existing dental light is generally sufficient)
- Dental suction
Clinic requirements
- Coordination between your carpark → front desk → clinic room
- No stairs, or a lift large enough for an ambulance stretcher
- Rooms adequate to fit 4+ persons in the room at the same time
- Ground floor clinics need no steps and smooth, no-stair access between the carpark & dental surgery

Recovery space
- IV sedation: recovery can occur in the same treatment room once the procedure is complete
- General anaesthesia: a separate or partitioned recovery area is required, with space for the patient to lie flat and be monitored until discharge criteria are met

- Anaesthesia monitoring (ECG, SpO2, blood pressure, capnography where required)
- Anaesthetic and emergency drugs, IV consumables
- Airway equipment appropriate to the level of anaesthesia (GA sessions only)
- Anaesthetic ventilator
- Resuscitation carts
- Anaesthetic carts
- Recovery monitoring equipment
Equipment your clinic provides
- Dental chair, suction, and standard dental equipment
- Power access as above, sharps container, gloves
- Clean linen/blankets for patient comfort during recovery (optional, appreciated)
Day-of-session workflow
- Anaesthesia team arrives ahead of the first scheduled patient to set up equipment
- Your front desk coordinates patient check-in and pre-op paperwork collection
- Anaesthetist completes final pre-op check before each case
- Recovery nurse monitors each patient through to discharge before the next case begins
- Equipment is packed down at the end of the session; no equipment is left on-site between visits
Booking and scheduling
- Sessions are booked through our scheduling team, with earlier lead times recommended for GA due to anaesthetist availability
- Regular partner clinics can arrange standing session days for predictable scheduling
- Cancellations should be provided with as much notice as possible to avoid affecting other clinics’ bookings
