How IV Sedation Sessions Work at Your Clinic
Sleep Anaesthesia provides a qualified anaesthetist and a dedicated anaesthesia/recovery nurse for each sedation session. Your clinic supplies the treatment room and dental team; we supply the anaesthesia team, monitoring equipment, and drugs.
Staffing on the day
- One anaesthetist per session, responsible for pre-assessment, sedation delivery, and monitoring throughout the procedure
- One anaesthesia/recovery nurse supporting monitoring, drug administration, and post-procedure recovery
- Your existing dental team continues to lead the clinical dental procedure
What we bring
- Portable anaesthesia monitoring equipment (ECG, SpO2, non-invasive blood pressure, capnography)
- IV sedation drugs and emergency/resuscitation equipment
- Oxygen provided
- All consents, assessments, payments & rebates handled by us in-house prior to the appointment
What your clinic provides
- Standard dental chair and treatment room access
- Power points for monitoring equipment, gloves, access to suction
- A recovery space (can be the same room) for the patient prior to discharge
Scheduling
Sessions are booked in advance through our scheduling team, with lead time depending on location and anaesthetist availability. Regular partner clinics can set up standing session days (e.g. one Friday per month) to build predictable case flow.
Patient pathway
- Your clinic identifies a patient suitable for IV sedation and completes a referral/booking request
- Our team confirms a session date and sends the patient a pre-op assessment form
- On the day, the anaesthetist completes a final pre-op check before starting
- Post-procedure, the patient is monitored in recovery until discharge criteria are met
- Follow-up documentation is provided to your clinic for the patient file
